  GUIDED TRAIL RIDES

Come take a guided trail ride on the San Diego River bottom. It's not actually a river anymore, but it's nice and sandy and there are several ponds & reservoirs nearby, mountains, and wildflowers, making it a scenic little tour of the area.   You will be sure to love our safe and friendly horses.

We can only accomodate a max of 3 riders per trail ride. Rides are booked by appointment only.  It is best to call ahead and also make a deposit to be sure to get the day and time you request. Trail riders must be age 10 and up. There is no riding "double" allowed on trail.  Children under 10 yrs may have a leadline ride at the stables. The minimum rider age is 6 years.
PRICES: 90 minute ride (1st time special) ........$65 per person,  $45 each additional hour.

ATTIRE:  Please be sure to wear comfortable clothing such as jeans, (or long pants), and boots with one inch heal. It is best to wear smooth soled boots, not hiking boots as they can get caught in the stirrups.

Bring a safety helmet if you have one. We have helmets available for you to wear if you do not have your own.  Dont forget to check out the safety guide

Before going out on the trails, we warm up in the arena to get acquainted and assure horse and rider compatibiity.
Trail rides are by appointment only.

 SAFETY FIRST!

  • Wear comfortable clothing: casual, not tight fitting jeans, no loose floppy jackets or backpacks.
  • Closed- toe footwear only, riding boots with a one inch heel and smooth soles are preferred. Do not wear hiking boots or   tennis shoes please.
  • You will be given a  "Release of Liability" form to sign upon arrival. You can also download it and bring it with you.
  • Helmets are recommended and must be worn while riding for those 18 and under. We have them if you need one.
  • No drinking alcohol out on the trail rides. The trail guide will carry your water bottle if you bring one.
  • Please do not feed horses by hand as fingers can be mistaken for carrots at times.  We can provide a feed bucket and prefer you give treats that way.
  • Never walk directly behind a horse without speaking and making sure he acknowledges you, otherwise you may startle him and could get kicked.
  • Never wrap a lead rope around your hand, fingers, or any other body part.
  • Never tie a horse to a fence or post with the bridle reins. Use a halter and lead rope only.
  • When trail riding, we always go the pace of the least experienced rider, in our case mostly only walking.
  • On the trails, keep about one horses length behind the horse in front of you so as not to "tailgate", it's annoying to both horse and rider ahead of you.  Bring a celll phone in case of emergency.
  • Never run up behind other riders, this is dangerous. Horses can "spook" and throw their rider as they are easily excitable.
  • It is best to carry a cell phone on your person while riding on the trails in case of an emergency. It's also best not to be talking on the cell while riding.
  • Riders should stay alert and pay attention while riding on the trail. Horses are not vehicles, they are alive and have personalities like we do.
  • (More will be taught in our lessons).  It is recommended you have at least one riding lesson before going on the trail.
  • Your riding skill level will be assessed before departing out on the trails. If the guide feels you are not ready, you will
need to take some lessons first.

Rides are by appointment only.
